To help the survivors of the terrible earthquake that occurred on Tuesday 12 January, you can make a donation on CARE FRANCE's website by clicking this link. Learn more about CARE | Gauthier Lefevre (H.97) was kidnapped in Darfur on 22 October 2009. He was working in this war-torn region for the ICRC. The ICRC's President, Jakob Kallenberger, is calling for the unconditional release of Gauthier and one of his co-workers, Laurent Maurice, who was kidnapped shortly afterward in November. The HEC Solidarity group and the entire HEC community are thinking of Gauthier and his family, in the hopes that he will be released shortly. | The Association on Campus The Association Forum took place on 13 and 14 January involving, for the first time ever, groups from abroad, workshops in English and a film shown about the workshop "Professional or personal, virtual or real networks: what strategy should you adopt?" This Forum met with great success among hundreds of students who came to listen to speeches given by many different professional groups and international groups and attend the various workshops (more than 1000 visitors during the day for the various activities).

View a selection. | | | | | | | | Careers | Living and working differently The next Careers Forum will be held on Wednesday 7 April 2010, in partnership with Apple. Its theme: Living and working differently. If the world is changing, then our professional world is undergoing a revolution: what new professional attitudes should you adopt in a world where the goal posts keep moving at a dizzying rate? This Forum will be broadcast live on the Internet (registration available shortly). | The network survey The Careers service is launching a large-scale qualitative survey on networks. Some forty individual interviews on the topic of digital and conventional networks will be conducted among French and foreign HEC alumni, both "addicts" and "phobics"…. If you would like to take part in this survey, please contact Marine Homo (offres@mailhec.com) who will record your application.

| | | | | | | | Organisations and Groups | The challenges of convergence To discuss the challenges of convergence, the impact of new technologies on the value chain, and strategies and key changes in telecoms, the Advanced Technologies group invited Michel Combes, CEO of Vodafone Europe, Jean-Louis Constanza, CEO of Orange Vallée, and Pierre Barnabé, CEO of Alcatel-Lucent France to debate the topic. It was in this framework that the group welcomed Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council, whose conference provided the "resources" think-tank with additional information that was vital for its work. | | | | | Focus on a Wiki | The group would like to welcome you to Switzerland. This month, Switzerland is in the spotlight. The group has 500 members and hosts some fifteen events per year. It now also organizes an annual gala, the first edition of which was held at Montreux Palace on 17 October 2009. For more information click here. | Foundation 2009 results The 2009 results for the HEC Foundation are very encouraging: - Resources: €11.6 M (results increased nine-fold over a five-year period). - 60% of the funds collected come from HEC alumni. - €7.6 M were devoted to HEC's development priorities in 2009 (including 40% for grants). - €3 M will be capitalized (capital is at €10 M). - 50 partner companies. - The group of Major donors has grown to 71 members (26 new members in 2009). - The number of donors rose 60% versus 2008.
